Marian was born and raised in Co. Donegal, Ireland, and moved to Calgary along with her husband and young family in 2014. She attended her local law school at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in 2011. Throughout her studies, Marian was a confident advocate and active campaigner for student interests and held the elected positions of Law Society President and Student’s Union President. Marian subsequently pursued two LL.M degrees at both the University of Strathclyde and Robert Gordon University law schools in Scotland with her studies providing for a solid understanding of corporate structures, taxation and alternative dispute resolution.
Marian was called to the Alberta Bar in early 2017 and has been privileged to work alongside some of the most respected lawyers in the city. Marian now practises exclusively in the area of family law and continues to build upon her litigation and dispute resolution skills. Marian understands that relationship breakdown and separation can be one the most difficult and emotionally-upsetting times for families, and she is firmly committed to working with her clients to find creative solutions in restructuring their lives. While Marian has enjoyed much success in Court, she understands and appreciates that collaborative approaches often work best for her clients, and takes reward in knowing that her work allows for positive impact and improvement in her clients’ lives and that of their families.
Marian is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Calgary Bar Association, the Association of Women Lawyers and the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association. In her spare time, Marian enjoys the practice of yoga, travelling and spending time with her family.
